🌌 G-Dragon Beams ‘Home Sweet Home’ Into Space: K-Pop, Art, and AI Converge in Groundbreaking Project

🌌 G-Dragon Beams ‘Home Sweet Home’ Into Space: K-Pop, Art, and AI Converge in Groundbreaking Project

Introduction:

G-Dragon’s ‘Home Sweet Home’ Goes Galactic: K-Pop Meets Space, Science, and Art

Forget topping the music charts — G-Dragon is reaching for the stars. In a stunning fusion of music, science, and art, the K-pop icon has become the first Korean artist to transmit a song from Earth into space, solidifying his place as a visionary not just in music but in global cultural innovation.

His latest single, “Home Sweet Home”, along with a futuristic media art piece based on a scan of his iris, was transmitted into space via satellite. This boundary-breaking move is part of a collaboration between Galaxy Corporation and the KAIST Space Institute, taking K-pop beyond Earth’s atmosphere and into the cosmos.

G-Dragon at Innovate Korea 2025: A Fusion of Music and Technology

The announcement came during G-Dragon’s speech at “Innovate Korea 2025”, a prestigious forum co-hosted by KAIST, Herald Media Group, and the National Research Council of Science & Technology, held at KAIST’s campus in Daejeon.

A visiting professor at KAIST, G-Dragon spoke passionately about the impact of scientific advancement on culture:

“It’s astounding that science has advanced to a point where people around the world can share music. But the idea of one of my favorite songs being selected and sent into space still feels surreal. I’m incredibly excited — and I just hope the song finds the right home out there.”

‘Home Sweet Home’ Beamed Into Space: What Makes This Project So Unique?

The track “Home Sweet Home” is the second single from G-Dragon’s recent comeback album “Ubermensch,” released in November. In partnership with KAIST and Galaxy Corporation, the song and its cinematic music video were transmitted from Earth using a ground-based satellite antenna — a first in Korean music history.

While BTS’ “Dynamite” was previously broadcast from space to Earth via the Danuri lunar orbiter in 2022, G-Dragon’s project flips the script: it’s the first time a Korean artist’s song has been sent into space from Earth.

'Iris': A Cinematic Media Art Based on G-Dragon’s Gaze

The transmission wasn’t just about music. It also featured an AI-enhanced media artwork titled “Iris”, designed by acclaimed visual artist Lee Jin-joon, an associate professor at KAIST. The piece is based on a high-resolution scan of G-Dragon’s iris, symbolizing the “mirror of the soul.”

The generative art was projected using a 13-meter satellite antenna on the KAIST campus — the first time this kind of space-tech has been used for projection mapping.

“Through this project, I wanted to represent the infinite universe as seen through the inner lens of humanity — G-Dragon’s gaze, in this case,” said Lee.

G-Dragon and the AI Enter-Tech Research Center

This initiative is part of a larger collaboration between KAIST and Galaxy Corporation under the newly established AI Enter-Tech Research Center, unveiled the same day with an official plaque ceremony. The center’s mission is to fuse advanced science with creative entertainment, pioneering next-gen cultural content.

Since being appointed visiting professor at KAIST last year, G-Dragon has been actively involved in project planning, contributing through his agency and playing a key role in promoting AI-powered entertainment research.

Why G-Dragon’s Space Project Matters: 5 Key Takeaways

  1. Cultural Innovation
This marks a historic first for K-pop, blending music, AI, and space technology in a way the world has never seen before

  2. Artistic Depth
Incorporating G-Dragon’s iris scan into a media art piece adds a deeply personal and symbolic touch, merging human emotion with cosmic scale.

  3. Pioneering Science-Entertainment Integration
As a joint effort between KAIST and Galaxy Corp, the project embodies the future of art-tech convergence, setting a blueprint for others.

  4. Global and Universal Reach
Sending a song into space is a universal gesture, literally transcending geographic boundaries and delivering Korean culture to the universe.

  5. Buzz and Engagement
With comparisons to NASA’s beaming of The Beatles’ “Across the Universe” in 2008, this campaign puts G-Dragon — and K-pop — at the forefront of global cultural dialogue.

Final Thoughts: A New Era for K-pop, Art, and Technology

G-Dragon’s “Home Sweet Home” isn’t just a music release — it’s a landmark cultural milestone. By merging art, AI, and space exploration, he’s set a new standard for creativity in the digital age. This project not only celebrates G-Dragon’s artistry but also emphasizes K-pop’s evolving role as a global cultural powerhouse.

Are we entering a new era where music, tech, and space exploration intersect? If so, G-Dragon is leading the way.
